Simple slopes analysis is a useful technique commonly seen in the social sciences to examine and visualise how one variable moderates the association between two variables (James & Brett, 1984). The term moderate is used here in its strict statistical sense. In simple slope plots, we visualise the effect of one variable on the dependent variable of interest at specific levels of another variable. There have been a number of requests to document a tutorial on how to conduct a simple slope analysis.
